Our History
A legacy of golf excellence on the Kenyan coast since 1956
The Beginning
Nyali Golf & Country Club was founded in 1956 by Monty Lowry, a passionate golfer who envisioned a premier golfing destination on the beautiful Kenyan coast. The original 9-hole course was carved through natural tropical bush land in the Nyali area of Mombasa.
By the early 1960s, the club had grown in popularity and the course was expanded to a full 18 holes, establishing Nyali Golf as one of the finest courses in East Africa.

The Course
The par-72 course is renowned for its Bermuda grass fairways and meticulously maintained Polana greens, which provide excellent playing conditions throughout the year.
One of the most distinctive features of the course is its magnificent flame trees. These majestic trees line many of the fairways, bursting into spectacular orange-red blossoms during the flowering season, creating an unforgettable backdrop for every round.
A Vibrant Community
Over the decades, Nyali Golf & Country Club has grown into much more than a golf course. It is the social heart of Mombasa, bringing together members and visitors from all walks of life.
The club hosts regular tournaments, social events, and community activities. From the prestigious Captain's Cup to family fun days, there is always something happening at Nyali Golf.
Today, the club continues to thrive under the stewardship of its dedicated board and members, committed to preserving the legacy of Monty Lowry while embracing the future of golf in Kenya.
